2. Service Description

Maskr is a free, web-based privacy toolkit that provides tools to:

  • Blur faces and areas in images
  • Detect and redact text in images using OCR
  • Remove metadata from images and PDFs
  • Redact content in PDF documents
  • Mask personal information and secrets in text

Processing occurs primarily in your web browser (client-side), meaning your files typically do not leave your device.

3. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes
  • Not use the Service to process illegal content
  • Not attempt to circumvent any security measures
  • Not use automated systems to access the Service without permission
  • Not interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations

4. Intellectual Property

Our Property: The Service, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by Venin Pty Ltd and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without written permission.

Your Content: You retain all rights to files you process using the Service. We do not claim any ownership over your content.

5. Service Availability

We strive to keep Maskr available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to:

  • Maintenance or updates
  • Technical issues beyond our control
  • Force majeure events

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Accuracy or reliability of results
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation

Important: Maskr is a privacy tool, not a guarantee of privacy. Results depend on the accuracy of detection algorithms. Always verify that sensitive information has been properly redacted before sharing processed files.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Venin Pty Ltd shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
  • Damages arising from your use or inability to use the Service
  • Damages arising from unauthorized access to your files or data

Our total liability for any claims arising from these terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed $100 AUD.

8. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer rights under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement. If the Australian Consumer Law applies, our liability is limited to re-supplying the services or paying the cost of having them re-supplied.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Venin Pty Ltd, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these terms.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service may include content from or links to third-party services. We are not responsible for third-party content or services, and your use of them is subject to their terms and policies.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time, for any reason, without notice. Since no accounts are required and processing is client-side, termination simply means restricting access to the website.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria, Australia.

14. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
